First Lot of Equipment Passed to SKIF

1 March 2022

In compliance with the government contract Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics passed high-frequency power amplifiers to Boreskov Institute of Catalysis for operation in the accelerator complex of the Shared Research Facility “Siberian Circular Photon Source” of Boreskov Institute of Catalysis (SRF SKIF).

By order of BINP the power amplifiers were manufactured by Novosibirsk radio-electronics enterprise OOO “NPP Triada TV”.

УThe power amplifiers are the power sources for resonators that are supposed to maintain the necessary energy in the accelerator complex of SKIF.

“The amplifiers would allow the beams of particles circulating in the synchrotron to accelerate and fly by necessary trajectories as well as to provide their high quality”, explained Academician Pavel Logachev, Director of BINP. “As a result we will get the X-ray radiation unique in its parameters in the main storage accumulator of SKIF. The amplifiers are made by an extremely complex technology, a similar equipment is made by “Triada TV” for Large Hadron Collider in CERN, their quality is highly praised by our Swiss colleagues. The BINP own plants also work with the amplifiers of “Triada TV” production – we exploit them in VEPP-2000 collider and injection complex for several years. “Triada TV” sets a good example of import substitution, of turning the technological chain back to the fully domestic tracks in our country, which is especially important in today’s circumstances”.

In general, the company will produce 10 high-frequency power amplifier for SKIF by the end of 2024. As for this moment OOO “NPP Triada-TV” manufactured five power amplifiers for SKIF: pulse-power amplifiers for the linear accelerator and continuous power amplifiers for booster synchrotron.

“Today we received the first lot of equipment for SKIF, the supply met the schedule. A part of equipment for the linear accelerator will be used already this spring in a special hall in BINP. The scientists will work on obtaining the first electron beam of SKIF. The energy will be low so far, only 20 MeV, but this is a necessary start. When SKIF will be built we will reach the energy 150 times higher, 3 GeV. But in both cases we will need the power amplifiers. “Triada TV” will continue to produce this type of equipment for SKIF, now for the main ring”, said Academician Valerii Bukhtiyarov, Director of BIC.

Information: OOO “NPP Triada-TV” develops two directions of their activity: development and production of TV and radio transmitters, development and production of amplifiers for accelerators. The company participated in the modernizing of the system of TV broadcasting in Kazakhstan, of the equipment of “Russian TV and radio broadcast networks” as well as in the project for transition to the digital TV broadcasting in RF.

Also OOO “NPP Triada-TV” manufactured the amplifiers for the mega-science object – NICA collider of heavy ions, Nuclotron-Based Ion Collider Factory in Dubna, feedback amplifiers for MedAustron company (Austria). Now it discusses its participation in the modernizing of Large Hadron Collider in CERN.
