Boreskov Institute of Catalysis was founded in 1958 as part of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Its founder and director was Georgii Konstantinovich Boreskov, who held this post until 1984. The Institute has always sought to combine fundamental research with the solution of current industrial problems. This enabled the Institute to become one of the world's major research centres dealing with chemical catalysis.
