Boreskov Institute of Catalysis and Novosibirsk State University Created Framework for Targeted Training of Experts for Industry

26 November 2020

Novosibirsk State University joined efforts with Boreskov Institute of Catalysis for creating a new division – Institute of Chemical Technologies (INKHIT). Denis Kozlov, Director-Organizer of the new structure, says that the mission of INKHIT is to prepare experts for the enterprises of the real economy.

“The mission of INKHIT is to train the world-level experts in the field of chemical technology to be engaged in science, engineering, and technology entrepreneurship, in particular, in the enterprises of the real economy. At the same time in the process of the training the teachers along with graduates and postgraduates would solve the oriented research problems for such companies. In fact, this is the targeted training of specific experts for specific enterprises”, — said Denis Kozlov.

The Institute follows the principle of flexible framework. A customer sets a task, then a team of teachers-researchers is formed with participation of the students and postgraduates under training. When the project is completed, the team is disembodied or modified and switches to another task. The participation of PAO “Gazprom neft”, PAO “SIBUR Kholding” and SC “Rosatom” is being negotiated within the project.

The flexibility of the approach is in interdisciplinary. “Basically the experts are trained by NSU, and as for practical solving of the tasks of enterprises they will make it in BIC, other chemical institutes, in Akadempark and right in the enterprises-partners. Besides, for training the alumni we plan to engage the researchers from various fields of science. Economics would be needed in terms of introduction of technological solutions, mathematics, for processing and analysis of data, etc.”, — added INKHIT’s Director-Organizer. The experts from both Russian and international research and industrial organizations are planned to be engaged in the work.

The project is supposed to increase the competitiveness of Novosibirsk State University and Boreskov Institute of Catalysis within the Program of Strategic Academic Leadership of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of RF and the Nauka National Project.

According to Denis Kozlov, the Institute of Chemical Technologies NSU-BIC would enable a real transfer of scientific achievements into industry. “The importance of the project is in the necessity to develop the interaction of the university with the enterprises of the real economy. INKHIT would help to develop such collaboration as well as strengthen the ties between the university and academic science”, — he noted.
