Boreskov Institute of Catalysis was founded in 1958 as a part of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The founder and the first Director of the Institute till 1984 was academician Georgii Konstantinovich Boreskov.
One of the main activity areas of the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis is fundamental investigations in catalytic science to discover new principles of chemical reactions and to create innovative catalytic compositions and technologies.

The project of Academician Zinfer Ismagilov, Chief Researcher of Federal Research Center Boreskov Institute of Catalysis SB RAS and Scientific Director of the Federal Research Center of Coal and Coal Chemistry SB RAS, “Catalytic Methods for Processing Carbon Dioxide from Coal-Fired Generation into Useful Products” is recognized as one of the ten breakthrough ideas in the field of energy according to the version of Global Energy Association. “10 Breakthrough Ideas for Energy in the Next 10 Years. 2021” is the second annual collection of the most promising energy technologies of the decade, published by the Association.
The project ideas of Academician Zinfer Ismagilov were reflected in the report of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak at the Global Energy Session “Energy Sector Transformations” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which took place in early June this year.
