Contract Signed for Main Phase of Construction of SRF “SKIF”

18 April 2022

Boreskov Institute of Catalysis and AO “KONTSERN TITAN-2” signed state contract for construction of the Shared Research Facility “Siberian Circular Photon Source” (SRF “SKIF”) for the period from April 2022 to May 2023.

The contract price is 5.8 bln rubles, the contract period is set by the Russian Government Order No.1262-r dated 15 May 2021. According to the signed document the contractor assumes obligations for construction of SRF “SKIF”, including development of working construction documents.

“This contract includes construction of some buildings of SRF “SKIF” that are necessary for launching the injection complex by the end of 2023. The beam of electrons with needed parameters is formed in this complex. Next contract will include all remaining works on making the infrastructure of SRF “SKIF” according to the working construction documents, including commissioning the whole object”, said Academician Valerii Bukhtiyarov, Director of Boreskov Institute of Catalysis.

Thus, by May 2023 the construction and finishing of the building for stands and testing must be completed. In this building the researchers will test the equipment of the accelerator complex before its planting into the main buildings.

Also by this time the injector building should be in high readiness (walls and beams erected). In addition to this, AO “KONTSERN TITAN-2” plans to make the engineering networks, three transforming sub-stations, as well as to complete the main works in the buildings of engineering maintenance and electrical facilities.

In parallel, the other objects of SRF “SKIF” will be constructed: development of the accumulator building pit, administrative building, canteen, as well as earth compaction, forming of foundations.

“AO “KONTSERN TITAN-2” has great experience in constructing technologically complex objects and objects of the nuclear power utilization, to which SRF “SKIF” also belongs. So the approach to realization of the project of SRF “SKIF” is clear to us. I am sure that we will deliver all our commissions in the set time and with necessary quality”, commented Vasily Beresnev, Director of Program for Construction of SRF “SKIF” of AO “KONTSERN TITAN-2”.

Info: Shared Research Facility “Siberian Circular Photon Source” of Boreskov Institute of Catalysis is a mega-science project with synchrotron of 4+ generation that is being constructed in Koltsovo, science town in Novosibirsk region.

SRF “SKIF” is a complex of 34 buildings as well as engineering and technological equipment providing the conducting of research on the beams of synchrotron radiation.

The unique characteristics of the new synchrotron will allow conducting the cutting-edge studies with bright and intensive beams of X-ray radiation in many areas – chemistry, physics, materials science, biology, geology, the humanities. Also SKIF would help to solve the important problems of innovative and industrial enterprises.

Siberian Circular Photon Source is established within the National Project “Nauka i Universitety” (“Science and Universities”) for developing a modern network of sources of synchrotron radiation of new generation in Russia.
